Admission Process Flow

Admissions at NIT Silchar are strictly entrance-based and conducted through centralized national counseling processes. For B.Tech programs, candidates must appear for the JEE Main and participate in the JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) or CSAB (Central Seat Allocation Board) counseling. M.Tech admissions are handled through GATE scores followed by CCMT (Centralized Counselling for M.Tech/M.Arch/M.Plan). M.Sc admissions require a valid IIT JAM score via CCMN counseling. MBA candidates are selected based on CAT, MAT, or CMAT scores followed by group discussions and personal interviews. Ph.D. admissions involve a written test and interview conducted by the institute for candidates with valid GATE, UGC-NET, or JRF credentials.

General Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility for B.Tech requires a minimum of 75% aggregate marks (65% for SC/ST/PwD) in Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, or being in the top 20 percentile of the respective board, alongside a valid JEE Main rank. M.Tech applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology with at least 60% marks (55% for SC/ST/PwD) and a valid GATE score. M.Sc applicants need a Bachelor's degree in a relevant science discipline with 60% marks. For MBA, a Bachelor's degree in any discipline with a minimum of 60% aggregate and a competitive CAT/MAT/CMAT score is necessary. Doctoral applicants must possess a Master's degree in the relevant field with a minimum of 6.5 CGPA or 60% marks.
