Eligibility Criteria

  • Must have passed 10+2 or equivalent from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English as compulsory subjects.
  • Minimum 50% aggregate in PCB for General/EWS category; 40% for SC/ST/OBC category; 45% for General-PwD category as per DCI and NMC norms.
  • Must have completed at least 17 years of age on or before December 31 of the year of admission. No upper age limit as per NMC circular dated March 9, 2022.
  • Must qualify NEET UG conducted by NTA: 50th percentile for General/EWS, 40th for SC/ST/OBC, 45th for General-PwD.
  • As a minority institution under AMU, 50% of total BDS seats (20 seats) are reserved for Muslim minority candidates as per the AMU Minority Reservation Policy and as upheld by the Hon. Supreme Court of India.
  • Remaining 50% seats (20 seats) are open to all categories including General, SC, ST, OBC, EWS, PwD, NRI without minority restriction.
  • NRI/Foreign National candidates are eligible for the NRI designated seats via MCC counselling as per Hon. Supreme Court order dated August 22, 2017.
  • Candidates must be medically fit as per DCI and AMU standards for BDS admission.

Admission Process

Fee Structure Breakdown

  • Annual government-subsidized tuition fee: Rs. 16,903 approx. per year (AMU fixed rate for constituent colleges)
  • Total tuition for full 4-year BDS academic course: Rs. 67,415 (one of the lowest for any government-affiliated dental college in India)
  • University examination fee (AMU): Rs. 3,000 - Rs. 5,000 per year approx.
  • Caution deposit: Rs. 2,000 (refundable at course completion)
  • Hostel fee: Rs. 3,000 - Rs. 6,000 per year for AMU campus government hostel (separate boys and girls hostels within AMU campus)
  • Mess charges: Rs. 2,000 - Rs. 3,000 per month separately
  • Grand Total for entire 5-year BDS course including hostel and all charges: Rs. 2,50,000 - Rs. 3,50,000 approx.
  • NRI quota fee: Higher as declared by AMU and MCC/DGHS annually
  • Scholarships available: AMU merit scholarship, UP government scholarship for UP domicile SC/ST/OBC/EWS students, Central government NSP scholarships, AMU Minority Scholarship, Maulana Azad scholarship for Muslim minority students

Seat Matrix

  • Total BDS seats: 40 per year (DCI approved intake)
  • AMU Internal / Minority Quota (50% seats - 20 seats): Reserved for AMU internal candidates (i.e., students who passed their qualifying examination from AMU-affiliated schools and colleges); further subject to AMU Muslim minority reservation as per AMU Act
  • All India Quota via MCC / DGHS (15% of open seats): Approximately 3 seats; open to all India candidates without any domicile restriction
  • UP State Quota via DMET UP (85% of open seats minus internal): Remaining open seats filled through DMET UP counselling at upneet.gov.in
  • NRI Quota: Designated NRI seats filled via MCC framework as per Supreme Court order

All India Quota Counselling (AIQ - via MCC)

  • Conducted by MCC (Medical Counselling Committee) / DGHS at mcc.nic.in
  • Open to all India candidates without any domicile restriction
  • Register on MCC portal after NEET UG results; pay registration fee of Rs. 1,500 (General/OBC/EWS) or Rs. 1,000 (SC/ST/PwD) and refundable security deposit of Rs. 2,00,000 (General/OBC/EWS) or Rs. 50,000 (SC/ST/PwD)
  • Upload documents, fill and lock preferences including AMU Dr. Ziauddin Ahmad Dental College, and participate in Round 1, Round 2, Mop-up Round, and Stray Vacancy Round
  • NEET UG 2025 AIQ General category closing rank for AMU BDS: 34,585 (as per Collegedunia 2025 data); NEET score of approximately 440 marks and above recommended for a strong chance in Round 1
  • NEET UG 2024 AIQ General category closing rank: approximately 30,000 - 35,000; OBC: 40,000 approx.; SC: 1,50,000 approx.; NRI: 4,44,196

UP State Quota Counselling (via DMET UP)

  • Conducted by Directorate of Medical Education and Training (DMET), Uttar Pradesh, through the portal upneet.gov.in
  • UP is open to all Indian candidates for private college seats; government college seats may prefer UP domicile in tie-breaking
  • Candidates register on upneet.gov.in, pay registration fee, upload documents, complete verification, fill and lock preferences, and await allotment
  • DMET UP conducts Round 1, Round 2, Mop-up Round, and an Institutional Stray Vacancy Round
  • NEET UG 2024 UP State Quota General closing rank for AMU BDS: approximately 35,000 - 45,000 in the final round

AMU Internal Quota (Minority Seats)

  • 50% of BDS seats (20 seats) are reserved for AMU internal candidates who have completed their qualifying examinations from AMU-affiliated institutions
  • AMU reserves the right to fill minority seats through a separate AMU-level merit list based on NEET UG scores among internal/minority applicants
  • Candidates claiming minority quota must submit proof of enrollment in AMU-affiliated school or college and proof of Muslim minority status
  • No separate entrance exam for internal/minority quota; NEET UG score is the sole merit criterion
  • Applications for internal quota must be submitted to the AMU Admission Section, Administrative Block, AMU Campus, Aligarh - 202002 within the notified last date
