Program Overview
Eligibility Criteria
- Must have passed 10+2 or equivalent from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English as compulsory subjects.
- Minimum 75% aggregate in PCM (65% for SC/ST/PwD) for General category candidates, or be in the top 20th percentile in class 12.
- Must have a valid score in JEE Main followed by JoSAA/CSAB counselling.
- Only candidates who have qualified JEE Main 2026 (BE/BTech paper) and are among the top 2,50,000 candidates are eligible for JEE Advanced 2026.
Admission Process
Fee Structure Breakdown
- Total tuition fee for 4-year B.Tech course: Rs. 5.00 Lakhs.
- Year 1 semester fee (with hostel): Rs. 1,00,500 (General/OBC/EWS with income >5 Lakhs).
- Hostel fee: Rs. 2.17 Lakhs to Rs. 2.36 Lakhs per year.
- One-time admission fee: Rs. 3,000.
- Median placement package (2025): Rs. 8.50 LPA.
- Placement rate: 73.77% (2025).
Seat Matrix
- Total B.Tech seats across all specializations: 487 (approx.).
- Mining Engineering: 30 seats.
- Admissions are through JEE Main followed by JoSAA/CSAB counselling.
Admission Process
- Step 1: Entrance Exam: Candidates must have a valid JEE Main 2026 score.
- Step 2: JEE Advanced: Top 2,50,000 JEE Main qualifiers are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced 2026.
- Step 3: JoSAA Counselling: Admissions are based on JEE Advanced rank through JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) counselling.
- Step 4: Final Allotment: Candidates who are allotted a seat must report to IIEST Shibpur for document verification and fee payment.
Post-Selection Reporting
- Upon selection, candidates must report to the campus for document verification and fee payment.
- Required Documents: Class 10 & 12 mark sheets and certificates, JEE Main/JEE Advanced scorecard, JoSAA allotment letter, Transfer Certificate, Migration Certificate (if applicable), Category certificate (if applicable), Passport-size photographs, Medical fitness certificate, Anti-ragging undertaking.
