Ph.D. in Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering

• Master's degree in Engineering/Technology (Materials Science/Metallurgy) with first class, 60% marks (55% marks for SC/ST) or equivalent.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology (Materials Science/Metallurgy) with first class, 60% marks (55% marks for SC/ST) or equivalent.
• Valid GATE score in MT/PI/ST/XE/ME/EC/EE.

Admission Process for Ph.D. Programs:

• Admission is based on a valid GATE/JRF score, followed by a written test and/or interview conducted by the institute.
• Candidates must apply online through the official IIT Bhilai Ph.D. admission portal.
• For the 2026-27 session, the application window was from March 20, 2026 to April 30, 2026.
• Shortlisted candidates are called for a written test and/or interview (expected in the first/second week of May 2026).
• Final selection is based on the candidate's performance in the interview, academic record, and research aptitude.
• Selected candidates may receive institute fellowships as per MoE norms.
