Admission Process

The Diploma in Dental Mechanics (DCDM) is a specialized vocational diploma program offered under the Department of Dental Mechanics at Government Dental College, Kozhikode. A Dental Mechanic (also known as a Dental Technician or Dental Laboratory Technician) is a skilled allied dental professional who fabricates and repairs dental prosthetic appliances in a dental laboratory setting under the supervision of a licensed dental surgeon. This includes complete dentures, removable partial dentures, fixed crowns and bridges, orthodontic appliances, cast metal frameworks, ceramic fused to metal (PFM) restorations, and other prosthetic dental devices. Admission to DCDM is merit-based on Class 12 aggregate scores. CEE Kerala or GDC Kozhikode level counselling is conducted for seat allotment. NEET UG is not required. Candidates must register on the GDC Kozhikode admissions portal or submit the application directly to the college office during the admission window. A merit list is prepared and published. Shortlisted candidates must report with original documents for verification and pay fees to confirm admission. DCDM diploma graduates are registered with the Dental Council of India as qualified Dental Technicians/Mechanics and can be employed in government dental hospitals, private dental clinics, dental colleges, dental manufacturing units, and armed forces dental labs. Diploma holders can also establish and run their own independent dental laboratory. The program is DCI recognized and affiliated to KUHS, Thrissur.
